Two LAEF militants apprehended from Assam-Meghalaya border

Guwahati, July 4 (IBNS): Two militants belonging to LAEF, a splinter group of Meghalaya's outfit A'Chik National Volunteer Council (ANVC-B), were apprehended by security forces from a remote area of Assam's Goalpara district along Meghalaya border on Saturday, officials said.

Based on intelligence input, troops of the army and the police had jointly launched an operation at Makri area in the bordering district and nabbed the militants.

Security forces recovered two pistols, some ammunition and other war like stores in possession from them.

The splinter militant group is mainly active in North Garo Hills of Meghalaya and Goalpara district of Assam.
