Srinagar, Oct 16 (IBNS) Two civilians were injured when police allegedly opened fire during an operation to arrest a suspect in south Kashmir's Pulwama town on Friday, reports said.

Police received information about presence of a burqa-clad suspect moving around Pulwama town, and launched an operation to arrest the suspect.

The suspect was overpowered and arrested. But some youths started pelting stones at the police personnel. This prompted police to fire in the air and whisk away the suspect.

Two persons identified as Rehti and Reyaz Ahmad Teli sustained bullet injuries and were hospitalised.
