Srinagar, Feb 14 (IBNS) Two soldiers and militant were killed after a fierce gun-battle between militants and security forces in Pir Mohalla, Hanjin in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district on Tuesday, official said.

On a tip off, security forces from the Indian Army and the Special Operations Group of the Jammu and Kashmir police cordoned off the Pir Mohalla village in the wee hours when they zeroed in on the suspected house from where the militants started indiscriminate firing on forces following.

Several civilians were also injured in the incident and there have been reports of heavy stone pelting in the area.

“One Militant was killed while four army Jawans were injured during a gunfight, the operation is still on in the area and there is possibility of more militant in the Pir Mohalla,”
said Army Spokesman in Srinagar.

The encounter comes just two days after four terrorists were killed by security forces on Sunday. Two Indian Army jawans lost their lives in that encounter, which took place in the Nowpora Yaripora area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district.
