Trinamool complains to EC against BJP for using 'American' campaigner The Great Khali

Kolkata, Apr 28 (IBNS): The Trinamool Congress has complained to the Election Commission about the BJP using American citizen and wrestler Dalip Singh Rana to campaign for the party, reports said.

Popularly known by his professional name The Great Khali, the Indian-origin wrestler now holds American citizenship.

"A foreigner should not be allowed to influence the minds of the Indian electors as he has little or no knowledge as to who should be an appropriate MP in India," the complaint lodged by the Mamata Banerjee-headed party reportedly said.

Speaking to the media, Rana, who shot into fame after he joined the WWE, said: "I have come from America to support my younger brother. I want to request everyone to cast their votes for him... Anupam is a learned man, he knows your troubles and will be able to serve you better than anyone else."

The BJP, however, has contended that Rana was by law allowed to live and work in India.

Trinamool Congress had earlier been in trouble with the Election Commission after Bangladeshi actors Ferdous Ahmed and Gazi Noor were seen at the party campaign meetings.
