Top Pakistani terrorist and LeT commander Abu Qasim killed in Kashmir encounter
Srinagar, Oct 29 (IBNS) In a big boost for Indian security forces, the alleged mastermind of the Udhampur attack in Kashmir, top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Qasim, a Pakistani national, was killed in an overnight encounter in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir in the wee hours on Thursday, police said.
Qasim, a Pakistani terrorist, whose planned attack on August 5 in Udhampur, earlier this year had claimed the lives of two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, was hunted down by a joint team of the Army and the police, who launched an operation in the Khandipora Villiage of the district following a tip-off.
Thirty-year-old Qasim, who carried a 20 lakh INR bounty on his head was allegedly involved in multiple attacks and is also believed to have killed Altaf Ahmad, a renowned counter-terrorism police officer in Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said they after a tip-off had cordoned off the area where the terrorist was hiding and he was finally gunned down.
Abu Qasim hailed from Bhawalpur Multan in Pakistan and was the divisional commander of the LeT.
