TMC MP Derek O' Brien condemns BJP worker's death in West Bengal, urges for punishment against perpetrators

Kolkata, June 2 (IBNS): Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Derek O' Brien on Saturday condemned the death of a BJP worker in Purulia area of the state and urged for punishment against the perpetrators of the act.

He demanded for a 'proper investigation' into the incident.

"We strongly condemn this despicable killing. All angles must be probed. The perpetrators of this heinous act must be punished. What role did Jharkhand border have to play? What elements of Bajrang Dal, Maoist or BJP involved. Let the truth be found out through proper investigation," Derek O' Brien tweeted.

Meanwhile, reacting to the murder of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker Dulal in Bengal's Purulia, Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar on Saturday referred to the incident as "inhuman and worst kind of crime".

Javadekar said: "This is a political murder, day in and out....This is the worst kind of crime."

Days after BJP worker Trilochon Mahato's body was found hanging from a tree, a 30-year old man has now been found hanging from a high tension electric tower in Dabha village of West Bengal's Purulia district on Saturday, media reports said.

The BJP claimed 30-year old Dulal, who has eventually died, was a saffron party worker.

However, BJP's claim has been refuted by the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Dulal's mother. She said they all support the TMC and also dismissed the suicide angle.

BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya tweeted a video where Dulal could be seen hanging from the electric tower.

Dulal's family had reported to police after the former went missing since last night. At around 5.45 am on Saturday, his body was found hanging from the tower.

Two days ago, 19-year-old BJP activist Trilochon Mahato was found hanging from a tree inside a jungle at Supurdi village under Balarampur Police Station limits in Purulia district of the state.

Eyewitnesses said that it was written in Bengali on the youth's t-shirt- "BJP politics at the age of just 18 years".

"A threat letter was also found near the body where it was written in Bengali- BJP politics at just 18! Today your life ends," an eyewitness told IBNS.
