Three more arrested in Kashmir cop lynching case

Srinagar, June 24 (IBNS) : Three people were arrested on Saturday in connection with the brutal killing of police officer Mohammed Ayub Pandith by a mob in Srinagar, taking the number of arrests in the case to five, NDTV reported quoting Director General of Police SP Vaid.

Two people were arrested on Friday evening.

A Special Investigation Team has  been formed for a fast track investigation in the case, NDTV quoted the DGP as saying.

On Friday night, Superintendent of Police (North Srinagar) Sajad Khaliq Bhat, who was in charge of downtown Srinagar, where DSP Pandith was killed, was transferred.

DSP Pandith was killed by a mob on Thursday night outside Srinagar's Jamia Masjid after he was reportedly taking a video of the crowd that gathered there for congregational prayers.
