Three jihadis nabbed in Chirang

Guwahati, Dec 12 (IBNS) : Security forces on Saturday apprehended three jihadis in Assam's Chirang district under BTAD area, officials said.

A defence spokesman based in Guwahati said that depending on intelligence input, the  Army and the police had jointly launched an operation at Salbari and Manikpur area in the lower Assam district and nabbed the hardcore jihadis belongs to Muslim Tiger Force of Assam (MTFA).

"Security forces nabbed the trio militant at a check post when they traveled in a vehicle, " the defence official said.

The nabbed jihadis were identified as Sayfer Ali, Saddam Hussain Talukdar and Jannatul Anam Ahmed.

Security personnel have recovered three 7.65mm pistols, two magazines, seven live ammunition, one crude bomb and some incriminating documents in possession from them.

Recently, Chirang police had arrested six jihadis of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JMB), including one of the master mind of Burdwan blast, from various areas of lower Assam. 

In last September, police had busted a training camp of the outfit group in Chirang district and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition.
