Tharoor-led delegation voices concern over US terror attack

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is part of the all-party delegation that is currently visiting several nations to brief leaders over India's stand on Operation Sindoor, on Monday, expressed concern over the terror attack in the US state of Colorado.

Tharoor and his delegation members expressed relief that no deaths was reported in the incident.

In his X handle, Tharoor said: "Members of the Indian MPs’ delegation learned with concern about the terror attack in Boulder, Colorado today. We are relieved there was no loss of life."

"We all share Secy of State @SecRubio’s view that 'terror has no place' in our countries," he said.

Boulder Rally Attack

At least six people were injured after a man threw Molotov cocktails and used a makeshift flamethrower on the demonstrators who had gathered in the US city of Boulder on Sunday to show solidarity with the Israeli hostages taken in captivity by Hamas during the October 7, 2023 attack.

The attack took place during the Boulder Run for Their Lives event in the city.

Police have taken one person into custody.

He has been identified by the US media as 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman.

Suspect Yelled 'Free Palestine'

The suspect was heard to have yelled “Free Palestine” during the attack, FBI Denver Special Agent-in-Charge Mark D. Michalek was quoted as saying by CNN during a news conference following the incident.

Suspect Applied For Asylum In The US

Law enforcement sources told CNN that the suspect had previously applied for asylum in the US.

Soliman was denied a visa to enter the country in 2005, the sources told CNN.

According to authorities, the injured victims were aged between 67 and 88. Two of them were seriously injured in the attack.

FBI Investigating The Attack As' Act Of Terrorism'

The FBI said it is probing the incident as an 'act of terrorism'.

The FBI Denver wrote on X: "The FBI is investigating the attack on the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder with @BoulderPolice as an act of terrorism."
