Terror attack can't be ruled out: Rajnath

New Delhi, Oct 21 (IBNS): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday warned of a possible terror strike in the country, media reported.
Days after National Security Guard (NSG) chief warned that terrorist organizations are planning to organize a coordinated terror strike in the country, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday reiterated in the same voice.

Speaking on the sidelines of Police Commemoration Day celebration, Rajnath is quoted by media as saying that "No possibility can be ruled out. We cannot ignore terror activities. Hence alerts are issued."

It is noteworthy to mention that the Centre had on Monday issued nationwide alerts by instructing the police of all states and union territories to stay alert during the festive season.

The Government in its circular noted to take extra security measures at places of worship and places which are communally sensitive.

"We issue regular alerts. We issue alerts on the basis of whatever information we get," Rajnath said.

NSG Director General JN Choudhury on last Thursday has warned that terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e Toiba (LeT), Islamic State in Syria (ISIS), Al-Qaeda and Indian Mujahideen (IM) might be joining together to launch an attack on India.

"Now that they (Al Qaeda) have declared their intention to attack India, they might combine with outfits like LeT, ISIS and IM," said Choudhury, who heads the country’s topmost and elite counter-terror organization.

"If they do have combined operations, we have to prepare for multi-city and multiple terror attacks," he added.

He also said that as per intelligence sources, the attackers might also incorporate terrorist organizations like Harkat-ul-Jihadi Islami (HuJI), Jaish-e Mohammed (JeM), Students Islamic Movement in India (SIMI) and Jamat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

The whole thing is funded by Pakistan’s spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Choudhury added.
