Technical failure partially grounds Kolkata metro services during peak hour

Kolkata, Feb 10 (IBNS): Kolkata's Metro rail service was partly disrupted during peak office hours on Friday as an air-conditioned rake malfunctioned at Shyambazar station, reports said.

According to reports, after reaching Shyambazar station at around 9:36 am, a Dumdum station to Kavi Subhas station bound train got stuck due to technical malfunction.

It resulted in stopping the running of  trains from Noapara to Girish Park. However, the Metro rail offered a truncated service between  Kavi Subhas and Girish Park metro stations.

Engineers and officials of metro railway rushed to the spot and after repairing the AC rake, sent it empty to Kavi Subhas station at around 10:25 am.

Normal services on the entire stretch of the Metro rail route resumed around 10:30 am, Kolkata Metro officials said.

However, office bound commuters suffered a lot due to the nearly two-hour long metro service disruption.
