Kolkata, May 30 (IBNS): Acting on a tip off, the Kolkata Police busted a suspected bomb-making factory in Kolkata's Kidderpore area and arrested one in connection with the case on the wee hours of Monday, officials said.

According to reports, police force from Watgunj Police Station, led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Port Sudip Sarkar, conducted raid in a house at Manasatala Row in Kolkata and recovered an active hand made bomb, 300 gms of gun powder and a black bag, containing few mobile chips and circuits, from the house.

One suspect, Samir Hossain alias Sony, was booked in connection with the case. He has been charged under 3 and 5 sections of Explosive Substances (ES) Act.

After hour-long interrogation, Kolkata Police have claimed that there was no terror link with the case.

"We have started probe into the case and are interrogating the arrested suspect. After primary investigation, we have come to know that the matter was not a terrorist activity. Bombs and gun powder were stored there to use in robbery. We are searching for others, involved in the case," one senior official of Kolkata Police told IBNS.

Meanwhile, a four-men team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) visited the place, interrogated and confirmed that no IED (Improvised Explosive Device) was found from the house, sources said.

Samir Hossein is likely to be produced to a local court in Kolkata on Monday.

The house, where the suspected bomb-making factory was being run, has been sealed.
