Supreme Court extends all Aadhaar-linking deadlines to Mar 31, 2018

New Delhi, Dec 15 (IBNS): The Supreme Court has ruled an extension of the deadline for Aadhaar-linking with mobile phones, bank accounts and government schemes to March 31, 2018, media reports said.

The Centre on Thursday asked the top court to extend the deadline of Aadhaar-linking to March 31, 2018.

A five-judge Constitution Bench on Thursday heard the interlocutory applications, seeking interim relief against the Centre's decision on linking of Aadhaar with various schemes.

The apex court is yet to hear on the validation of Aadhaar card.

The Central government on Wednesday extended the deadline for mandatory linking of Aadhaar and PAN with bank accounts indefinitely.

According to reports, the revenue department under the Union Finance ministry has issued a new set of rules amending the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) rules (maintenance of records), 2005.
