New Delhi, July 7 (IBNS): Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has appeared before a Delhi court in connection to the Sunanda Pushkar death case, media reports said.

The hearing of the case has already begun.

Pushkar was Tharoor's wife, who died under mysterious circumstances at a hotel room in New Delhi in 2014.

On May 14, Delhi Police filed the chargesheet in connection with the death of Pushkar, naming Tharoor as an abetter.

Charges under sections 498A and 306 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) were filed against the leader.

On Thursday, Tharoor was granted an anticipatory bail by Delhi's Patiala House Court on a surety of Rs 1 lakh.

Tharoor now can't leave the country without the permission of the court.
