Sonowal condoles death of folk music singer Kalika Prasad Bhattacharjee

Guwahati, Mar 7 (IBNS) : Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal condoled the untimely death of folk singer Kalika Prasad Bhattacharjee who died in a road accident in West Bengal on Tuesday.

His last rites would be performed with full state honours.
In a condolence message Sonowal said that the untimely death of folk music singer Kalikaprasad Bhattacharjee was a real shock.

"He enriched the world of folk music with his creative contributions. With his death the world of music has last a real gem which would be difficult to be filled. He left behind a rich legacy of his creations which will continue to be a source of inspiration to the young band of singers. He will be remembered by posterity for his multifaceted role in film direction, composition and rendition of songs," Sonowal said.

Born in Silchar on Sept 11, 1969, he was also credited with creating a popular band ‘Dohar’.
Sonowal expressed his empathy to the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty for eternal peace to the departed soul.
