Somnath faces women protesters over wife complaint, meets Kejriwal

New Delhi, June 11 (IBNS): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Somnath Bharti, whose wife has approached the Delhi Commission for Women, accusing him of assault and domestic violence, faced several women protesters on Thursday when he was going to the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Activists, including BJP members, surrounded his car as he tried to reason with them and asked them to hand over their memorandum of demands.

He met Kejriwal over the latest crisis even as the Congress and BJP slammed him over the complaint of his wife.  BJP leader Satish Upadhyay said though it is a personal matter but "if women are not safe in the homes of AAP leaders how can they make Delhi safe for women."

His wife has approached the Delhi Commission for Women, alleging assault and domestic violence on the minister.

The DCW has summoned the former Delhi Minister, reports said.

Bharti meanwhile tweeted: "I love my wife but her demands that I should leave serving my mother and motherland are not acceptable. She reacted with a false complaint."

"Allegations of domestic violence if any are baseless and inconceivable. I love my wife and my little children. I urge media to respect my privacy," he said.
