Snakebite Case: Separate demonstrations by YC, SFI turns violent, police resort to lathicharge

Wayanad/UNI: The demonstrations taken out to the collectorate  by the Youth Congress (YC) and the Students Federation of India (SFI) on Friday, over the death of a school girl due to snake bite, turned violent with police resorting to lathicharge to disperse them.

The students of the Sarvajana Vocational Higher Secondary School and their parents also took out a march on Sulthan Bathery highway today in protest against the irresponsibility on the part of the school authorities that resulted in the death of a fifth-standard student  inside the classroom on Wednesday.

The students as well as parents alleged gross irresponsibility on the part of the school teachers which resulted in the delay in medical care and death of the student Shehla Sherin.

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) had been critical of the district panchayat, ruled by the United Democratic Front (UDF), under whose jurisdiction the school comes. However, the UDF had been pointing its accusing fingers on the LDF for not disbursing the promised allocation for repair and renovation of the school building.
