Six hurt in clashes with security forces in Srinagar

| @indiablooms | May 10, 2019, at 06:12 pm

Srinagar, May 10 (UNI) Six youth were injured when security forces fired pellets and burst teargas shells to disperse protestors after Friday prayers in downtown Srinagar.

The trouble started immediately after Friday prayers were over in historic Jamia Masjid in downtown, where scores of protestors took to streets outside the mosque.

However, security forces deployed in the area swung into action and stopped the demonstrators from moving towards Nowhatta.

As the protestors didn’t back down, security forces fired pellets and burst teargas shells to disperse the demonstrators, who were pelting stones.

About six youth were injured in the clashes. The injured were shifted to a local hospital.
