Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested Indian Youth Congress national president Uday Bhanu Chib after several rounds of questioning in connection with the shirtless protest staged at Bharat Mandapam during the recently held India AI Impact Summit 2026, an event attended by global leaders and technology executives.

Chib has been booked on charges including criminal conspiracy, voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant, obstructing a public servant in the discharge of duty, and wilful disobedience, according to media reports.

Confirming the arrest, Congress MP Sasikanth Senthil wrote on X: “After being questioned for more than 20 hours, Delhi Police arrested @UdayBhanuIYC at 4 am. We are proud of Uday and the IYC warriors. Our fight for the youth of this country will continue.”

Earlier, several members of the Indian Youth Congress were detained after staging a brief protest inside the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, leading to heightened security at the high-profile international event.

According to reports, around 10 individuals claiming to be Youth Congress members entered the venue using QR-coded entry passes and raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi inside Hall No. 5.

Some protesters removed their T-shirts and displayed messages related to the India–US trade deal and the Epstein files, triggering a brief commotion before security personnel intervened.

The India AI Impact Summit 2026, inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on February 16, was held from February 16 to 20. The summit brought together heads of state, global AI researchers, technology executives, and policymakers from across the world.
