Shimla: NDRF team rescues five people stranded in Beas River

Shimla: The state government has requisitioned the NDRF to speed up rescue and relief operations due to flash floods, landslides, and heavy rainfall that affected people, sources said on Sunday.

An NDRF team led by Commandant Baljinder Singh, Deputy Commandant Ops Dharmender, and Team Commander Commandant Shashi Kumar rescued five people trapped in the middle of the Beas River at Camping Kullu.

Five victims were stranded at the most threatened location in the Beas River at Village-Charudu in Kullu district, HP.

Shimla Superintendent of Police Sanjay Gandhi said that a Landslide occurred on a house in the village Panewali of Gram Panchayat Madhavani of Kotgarh sub-tehsil village. At the time of the mishap, five people were inside the house.

Three people died in the mishap. Two people identified as Jaichand and his wife Bina Devi have suffered minor injuries. They had been rescued from the house on Sunday.

The deceased are identified as Anil'( 30 yrs) Kiran and Swapnil( 11).
