Several killed in Maharashtra hooch tragedy

Mumbai, June 19 (IBNS): The death toll in the hooch tragedy which hit Malwani area in Maharashtra has crossed 40, reports said.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night.

The police have arrested three people in connection with the incident.

They have been identified as Raju Hanmanta Pascar, Donald Robert Patel  and Gautam Harte .

Several people fell ill after consuming country liquor on Wednesday. They lived in Laxmi Nagar slums.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered an inquiry into adulterated liquor issue.

CMO Maharashtra tweeted: "CM @Dev_Fadnavis orders an enquiry into adulterated liquor issue in Malwani and asks to submit the report within 2 days."
