Seven killed in road accident in Odisha

Bhubaneswar/UNI: As many as seven people were killed in a road accident on NH 16 near Neulpur Central bank under Dharmasala Police station in Jajpur district in the wee hours on Saturday.

The accident occurred while a truck coming from Kolkata hit another truck which had been parked on the side of the road since Friday following an accident.

Sources said while six died on the spot, another died on the way to hospital. All the deceased belonged to the Kolkata region.

The deceased also included the. Driver of the truck that hit the truck from behind.

On getting information, the fire Brigade personnel from Chandikhol rescued six bodies and the authorities shifted one of the seriously injured to the nearby hospital but he died on the way.

Irate villagers of the nearby villages blocked the road following the accident protesting against the failure of the Police to remove the truck lying on the roadside following the accident since Friday.

The movement of traffic was normalised after police intervened and removed the road blockade.
