Senior JDU leader Sharad Yadav meets Rahul Gandhi post Nitish's alliance swapping, speculations rife
The meeting took place soon after Nitish Kumar was sworn-in as Bihar Chief Minister for the sixth time in Patna when the dramatic manoeuvre he initiated on Wednesday by resigning was complete.
What Yadav and Rahul Gandhi discussed is yet to be known.
According to reports, Sharad Yadav has also called a meeting of party leaders, including MPs Ali Anwar and Virendrakumar at his residence on Thursday evening.
In the morning, Ali Anwar had openly criticised Nitish's decision to swap alliance.
"While Nitish K,umar has been clear on his stand against corruption from the beginning, he also had another stand -to fight against communalism. If we see any agreement on that on his part, we will have to take a decision," he had said.
Since last evening, when Nitish Kumar resigned and pulled out of the grand alliance to return to the one with the BJP, Sharad Yadav has not said a word. He was not also present at Nitish's swearing-in ceremony on Thursday morning for he had already reached Delhi.
Rahul Gandhi on Thursday attacked Nitish Kumar for "selfish gains".
Nitish Kumar has to prove his majority in the Bihar Assembly on Friday. Lalu Yadav's RJD has 80 MLAs while Nitish's JDU has 71 in the 243-member house. With Nitish Kumar getting the support of 58 BJP MLAs, the NDA will have 132 votes during the floor test. However, in case of any major dissent within the JDU Nitish Kumar may not enjoy a cakewalk.
