New Delhi/IBNS: The Indian government on Tuesday said no decision has been taken to open schools or other educational institutions across nation at this time when the country is fighting COVID-19 outbreak.

" No such decision taken by MHA. All Educational institutions are still prohibited to open, throughout the country," the Ministry of Home Affairs tweeted.

The tweet was posted after a section of the media claimed that the ministry has given permission to all states to open schools.

Schools and other educational institutions across the nation have remained shut since mid-March.

The Indian government imposed a lockdown on Mar 25 to prevent spread of COVID-19.

The lockdown is scheduled to end on May 31.

The lockdown, which was initially announced for 21 days by PM Narendra Modi during his national address, has been extended several times.

The fourth phase of the lockdown is currently going on.
