SC refuses to pass interim order against Aadhar notification

New Delhi, June 27 (IBNS) : In a booster for the Government, the Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to pass an interim order against notification making Aadhaar mandatory for availing benefits of social welfare schemes.

According to a News 18 report, a  bench of the SC said that it will not pass an order unless there are details of those who have actually been denied benefits for want of Aadhaar.

The apex court said orders can not be passed on the basis of “mere apprehensions and uncertainties”.

“The state is a democratic welfare state which is saying that we are not depriving anyone of benefits. Alternative IDs are valid at this moment,” the SC said.

The Supreme Court  court was hearing three separate petitions challenging government's notification making Aadhaar mandatory for availing benefits of various social welfare schemes.
