Saradha scam: Court extends Srinjoy Bose's CBI custody
Kolkata, Nov 26 (IBNS): Accepting the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)'s appeal and rejecting his bail plea, Alipore Court in Kolkata on Wednesday extended the CBI custody of Trinamool Congress (TMC)'s Rajya Sabha MP Srinjoy Bose by three days.
After a marathon six hours of questioning, the CBI arrested Bose on Nov 21 in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam.
Bose was produced in the court on Nov 22 and the judge sent him to CBI custody for 5 days.
After his custody expired, Bose was produced in the court again on Wednesday.
The CBI appealed to the judge to grant three more days of custody for further questioning.
Citing Bose's illness, his lawyer also pleaded for his client's bail.
But the Additional chief judicial magistrate of Alipore court, Haradhan Mukherjee sent Bose to the CBI custody again.
Footballer Jose Ramirez Barreto came to meet Bose at Alipore Court's lock-up.
Bose will be produced it the court again on Nov 29.
Srinjoy Bose is the owner of the Bengali daily newspaper 'Sambad Pratidin'.
