S Jaishankar visits Maldives, meets several key leaders

Male: Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited Maldives for two days when he met top leaders of the country and inaugurated several projects.

He met country's President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid during this visit to the island nation.

" An honour to be received by President @ibusolihof Maldives. Conveyed the personal greetings and good wishes of PM @narendramodi.Discussed the special partnership between our two countries that has produced so many substantive outcomes during his tenure," S Jaishankar tweeted.

A pleasure to visit Maldives after a year.

Despite the pandemic,our relationship has witnessed fast-paced progress this year under guidance of PM @narendramodi &President @ibusolih.

Speaking on his visit,the Ministry of External Affairs had earlier tweeted: "EAM’s visit will see the signing of several agreements related to the bilateral development cooperation, inauguration/handing-over and launch of a number of key India-supported projects that will contribute to the socio-economic development of the Maldives and enhance its security."

Jaishankar will visit Sri Lanka on Monday.

During his stay in Sri Lanka, EAM will also participate in the BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting on 29 March 2022 in Colombo.
