RSS affiliated teachers get financial assistance from Assam CM relief fund: SFI

| @indiablooms | Sep 03, 2021, at 10:27 pm

Guwahati: The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) accused the Assam Chief Minister’s Office for illegally providing financial assistance to the teachers of RSS affiliated schools in the state from CM relief fund.

The SFI also slammed the BJP-led Assam government for providing financial support solely to the teachers of RSS affiliated Vidya Bharati schools which are known in Assam as Shankardeva Shishu Niketan.

The SFI’s Assam state committee leaders said that, the BJP-led Assam government has taken up a discriminatory stand by providing one time financial support of Rs 5000 from the Chief Minister Relief Fund to the teachers working at the Shankardeva Shishu Niketans – a chain of educational institutions of the state under Vidya Bharati, a private organization managed by RSS.

“In this COVID-19 pandemic situation, people from different classes of the state are currently suffering from significant economic damage due to the unplanned lockdown forced upon them. The COVID-19 lockdown had significant economic impact on the teachers and the staffs working in the private schools as well. While depriving the other private school teachers is discriminatory and politically motivated,” SFI’s Assam unit General Secretary Nirangkush Nath said.

He further said that, the SFI Assam state committee has condemned this biased act and has demanded the allocation of one time financial support to all the teachers working at the private schools administered under welfare motive as well as the venture schools.

The SFI’s Assam unit leaders – State General Secretary Nirangkush Nath, State Vice-President Pratul Barman and State Secretariat Member Kalyan Buragohain, further said that, since the beginning of the BJP rule in Assam, the government has been partial to the Shankardeva Shishu Niketans under Vidya Bharati, an organization managed by RSS.

“Previously, the former Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma provided financial grant to the Shankardeva Shishu Niketans for building infrastructure. The repetition of a similar prejudiced action was witnessed again,” the SFI leader said.

The SFI Assam unit said that, a delegation of SFI Assam held a meeting with Assam Education minister Dr Ronoj Pegu on August 28 this year and inquired whether any financial support was provided on behalf of the Education Department to the private school teachers, to which he informed that no such step was taken.

“Therefore, it has become crystal clear that under the patronage of Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma, only the teachers of Shankardeva Shishu Niketan was provided financial support, while discriminating the other private school teachers. We, SFI, strongly condemn this politically motivated, discriminatory act of depriving the teachers working at various private schools administered under welfare motive and the venture schools. The act of spending government/public funds for political gain cannot be accepted under any circumstances,” the SFI leaders said.
