RS polls: TMC wins all 4 seats from WB, TRS wins 3 in Telangana
New Delhi, Mar 23 (IBNS): As the counting for the Rajya Sabha votes is underway on Friday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has managed to register a win at the Chhattisgarh seat while the Trinamool Congress party won all the four seats from West Bengal.
49-year old Saroj Pandey bagged 51 votes while Congress candidate and former legislator Lekhram Sahu secured 36 votes in Chattisgarh.
In West Bengal, all four Trinamool candidates-Nadimul Haque and first time nominees Subhasish Chakraborty, Abir Biswas and Santanu Sen-won the Rajya Sabha polls.
Meanwhile, Congress's Abhishek Manu Singhvi also emerged victorious in the Upper House elections from West Bengal.
In Telanagana, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) bagged all three Rajya Sabha seats.
B. Prakash, J. Santosh Kumar and AB. Lingaiah Yadav have been elected to the Upper House.
In UP, counting for votes began after a delay of two-hours.
Earlier, creating trouble for Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati, one of her party members reportedly cross-voted for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the ongoing Rajya Sabha election.
Extending support to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BSP lawmaker Anil Singh told media, "I am with Maharaj ji," media reports said.
The poll took place for 10 Rajya Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh. Polling was also held for 16 more seats from six other states.
