Rs 24 lakh cash seized from Congress candidate's SUV in Basti

Basti, UP, May 9 (UNI): Police on Thursday seized Rs 24 lakh from an SUV of the Congress candidate in the city and arrested two people in this connection.

The flying squad of the district police intercepted Congress candidate from Basti seat and former UP minister Raj Kishore Singh's SUV in the Sonupar area of the city and found the cash stacked inside the vehicle along with party pamphlets.

Police here said that two people have been arrested while the cash and the vehicle have been seized. However, one person managed to escape.

Basti Lok Sabha expenditure observer Vibhash Sharan rushed to the Kotwali police station to look into the matter.
