Kalaburagi/UNI: A building of a religious mutt in Afzalpur town was attacked by miscreants after the seer of the mutt spoke against love jihad recently.

The miscreants attacked the Mashala Siddalingeshwara Samsthan mutt’s building on Thursday night with stones when Kedar Sri Swamiji was sleeping inside. Tension prevailed in Afzalpur town after the incident, police said.

It is learned that the miscreants were angered by the seer's comments against love jihad and cow slaughtering in a programme organised by Hindu Jagruti Sene in Kalaburgi on December 28.

The police have provided heavy security cover to the mutt and in other sensitive areas of the town after the violent incident.

The visuals of the incident have gone viral on social media which show broken glass windows in the stone-pelting. However, there is no report of any injury caused by the attack.

Meanwhile, the Hindu Jagruthi Sene has submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police of Kalburgi to initiate action against the culprits for trying to attack the seer.

Nobody has been arrested in the case as of now, police said.
