New Delhi/UNI: The Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned for the day on Monday following continuous uproar by the Opposition members over the suspension of eight MPs.

Soon after the House reassembled at 12 pm, after fourth consecutive adjournments of the day, acting vice chairman Bhubneswar Kalita told the opposition members that the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Ghulam Nabi Azad will be allowed to speak first on the issue but after all the suspended members leave the House.

The agitating members continued sloganeering against the government demanding revocation of the suspension order.

"I am allowing LoP to speak on this issue but before that, the House should be in order as this was not the first time that naming of the members has been done. In the past also, it has happened," Kalita said, adding that as per the rule, the suspended members should leave the House immediately.

After the repeated requests of the Chair to put House in order, to follow the rules and Covid protocol too, fell in the deaf ears of the protesting members, Kalita adjourned the House for the day.
