Jaipur/IBNS: Protests erupted in Rajasthan's Jaipur after Rajput leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead at his home in the state's capital city, media reports said.

Gogamedi, who was the leader of a fringe outfit Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, was shot dead by three men who had tea with him in the living room.

In a Facebook post, gangster Rohit Godara, who was close to gangsters Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi, has claimed responsibility behind the murder.

Gogamedi and two of his associates were rushed to hospital after they suffered injuries.

In the gunfight, one of the attackers was also shot dead.

The supporters of Gogamedi erupted in protests and even called for a bandh in Rajasthan demanding the arrest of the accused.

The incident comes at a time when the state is heading for a transfer of power as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) defeated Congress in the recently concluded state assembly.
