New Delhi/IBNS: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met jailed former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram in Tihar jail, media reports said.

Rahul and Priyanka, who were accompanied by Chidambaram's son Karti, met the veteran Congress leader in the early morning on Wednesday.

"Today Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met my father. This sends out a very strong message that the Congress party is with him," Karti said as quoted by The Indian Express.

Chidambaram was first arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Aug 21 for allegedly committing corruption by facilitating a huge flow of foreign funds to INX media when he was the Finance Minister.

Though he was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Oct 22, Chidambaram was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the same case on 16th of the same month.

The former Finance Minister is in judicial custody till Nov 27.
