Rahul Gandhi calls one paise fuel price cut a 'childish' prank by PM Modi

New Delhi, May 30 (IBNS): The one paise fuel price cut on Wednesday failed to impress Congress president Rahul Gandhi as the latter has once again trained his guns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) on Wednesday reduced the petrol and diesel prices, which were hiked for 16 consecutive days, by one paise.

Rahul tweeted, "Dear PM, You've cut the price of Petrol and Diesel today by 1 paisa. ONE paisa!?? If this is your idea of a prank, it’s childish and in poor taste. P.S. A ONE paisa cut is not a suitable response to the #FuelChallenge I threw you last week."

Days ago, Rahul had also challenged Modi to reduce the fuel prices or else the Congress will launch a nationwide protest.

The fuel prices in the country has already crossed Rs. 80 per litre, creating discomfort for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which rules the central government.

The government is likely to call a meeting to find a solution to the price hike.

BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP, Amit Shah, a week ago, assured that the government will come up with a solution within two to three days.
