R K Nagar bypoll: I support no one, Rajinikanth tweets

Chennai, Mar 23 (IBNS): Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has preferred a role of a mute spectator in the upcoming R K Nagar bypoll.

Posting a tweet on Thursday, the actor said that he won't be supporting anyone.

"My support is for no one in the coming elections," his tweet read.

Meanwhile the Election Commission has barred both factions of AIADMK from using either the party name or the symbol in the bypoll, scheduled for Apr 12, a report in The Hindu read.

"Both the groups shall be known by such names as they may choose for their respective groups, showing, if they so desire, linkage with their parent party ... and both the groups shall also be allotted different symbols as they may choose from the list of free symbols notified by the Election Commission for the purpose of the byelection," the EC order read.

The Election Commission has also ordered both the factions to come up with new names and symbols for the bypoll.
