Punjab: Three drug peddlers held with 345 kg poppy husk

Jalandhar, Mar 31 (UNI) Commissionerate police on Sunday nabbed three drug peddlers and seized 345 kg poppy husk from their possession.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar told media persons this afternoon that the police achieved a major success in recovering a big consignment of drugs early this morning at about 0200 AM, when it stopped a truck for checking at a naka laid at the GNA chowk under the jurisdiction of Jalandhar Cantonment police station.

 

During thorough search of the truck, the police recovered some plastic sacks filled with poppy husk concealed under the raw sheep wools.


Mr Bhullar said that two persons sitting in the truck were arrested immediately while the third one was nabbed from Machhiwara. They have been identified as Jagtar Singh, a resident of Chamkaur Sahib and Baljinder Singh, a resident of Sherpur Basti, Macchiwara.

 

They revealed to the police that they are the employees of one Hem Singh, also a resident of Machhiwara. Police teams were immediately rushed to Machhiwara from where Hem Singh was also arrested. A case under NDPS act had been registered against the accused at Jaalandhar Cantt police station.
