Pune: Several buses gutted in fire

Pune, Mar 20 (UNI) Ten private tourist buses were gutted when a major fire broke out at classic coach garage at Shindewadi village near here on Wednesday.

Fire department officials said the tourist buses had come to the garage for some repair work.

According to sources, the incident occurred due to a short circuit inside a bus when the driver was outside.

Due to explosive material stocked inside the garage, the fire spread rapidly, destroyed all buses which has come to garage for repairing purpose, fire official Sanjay Ramteke with Katraj Fire Station said.

Around seven fire renders, three private water tankers along with strengths 10 fire personnel were pressed into services to douse the flame.

The exact cause of fire is not yet ascertained, but it may occur due to short circuit in a bus when there were no mechanic was present at the time of fire, said fire officials.
