Priyanka Gandhi Vadra makes 'connect' with UP people

| @indiablooms | Feb 20, 2019, at 05:58 pm

Shamli, Feb 20 (UNI/IBNS) Newly-appointed AICC General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made her first personal contract with the people of western parts of the state, during her visit to martyr Amit Kori's residence here, along with her brother and Congress president Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary UP west Jyotiraditya Scindia and UPCC Chief Raj Babbar.

Ms Vadra talked with the women, children and others during her short visit at Raghunath Mandir, where the 'Tehrvi' (final ritual) of the martyr was held and paid her tribute to Amit Kori, who made extreme sacrifice for the country.

''We are with the family of the martyr”, the only word uttered by Priyanka before the media and refused to say anything more. She took the phone numbers of the female members of the Amit Kori family and assured them all possible assistance by the party.

After reaching Raghunath Mandir at around 1430 hrs, both Ms Vadra and Mr Gandhi met the family members of the martyr and consoled them. While Ms Vadra spoke to the females of the family and also took their phone number, Mr Gandhi said that he was sad as well as proud of martyr Kori.

Amid chants of ''Amit Kori Amar Rahe'' and ''Bharat Mata ki Jai'', Mr Gandhi said, ''Today, our martyrs gave their life for the country. We are sad and at the same time, proud of our soldiers. The family gave their entire life for their son and the son gave his life for the country.

''The entire country wants to thank you for the sacrifice your son has made. Me and my sister want to say that we are with you in their hour of grief. I want to tell all the CRPF people and our soldiers that there is no power in the world which can defeat this country,'' he added.

However, the AICC chief refused to talk to the media separately, saying that he has come for paying condolence to the martyrs.

The brother-sister duo then went on to visit the house of Pradeep Kumar, another martyr, who lost his life in the deadly Pulwama terror attack.

While on their way to Shamli, the Congress delegation stopped at Shiv Shakti Dhaba for a tea break in Kairana. The visit, which was kept under wraps till the last moment, sprung surprise to everyone present at the Dhaba.
