Prime Minister Modi to attend Dusshera celebrations in Lucknow

Lucknow/New Delhi, Oct 11 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present at the Aishbagh Ramlila of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday for Dussehra celebrations, according to media reports.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Lucknow on Monday evening.

According to media reports, Akhilesh Yadav, chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, is expected to be at the airport to receive the PM but is unlikely to attend the Aishabag Ramlila.

Lucknow mayor Dinesh Sharma is also expected to be at the airport to receive the PM.

The venue, Aishbagh Ramlila ground, has been decorated with 20 quintals of flowers.

A 121-feet Ravan is erected and will be set afire through laser by PM Modi, in the presence of local MP Rajnath Singh and Dinesh Sharma. 45 LED screens have been put at various crossings in the city so that people can watch the live coverage of the function, reported The Financial Express.

However, owing to security concerns, Prime Minister Modi will be present for the Vijayadashami celebrations but will leave the venue before the fire crackers are lit, according to media reports.

Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) have called the PM's visit a political move, media reported.

SP-BSP has attacked BJP for politicalising the celebrations by setting up posters and banners to welcome the PM, one of the posters even saying 'Lucknow welcomes the avengers of Uri', reported the media.
