President of India greets people of Tajikistan on the eve of country's Independence Day

New Delhi, Sept 8 (IBNS) President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday extended his greetings and felicitations to the Government and people of the Republic of Tajikistan on the eve of 24th anniversary of their Independence Day on Wednesday.

In his message to Emomali Rahmon, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the President has said, “On behalf of the Government and the people of India and on my own behalf, it gives me great pleasure to convey warm greetings and felicitations to Your Excellency and to the friendly people of Tajikistan on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of your Independence Day."

"India and Tajikistan have traditionally enjoyed close and friendly relations. Our two countries have forged strong bilateral relations based on our shared history and the larger vision of peace and prosperity in our common region," he said.

"The recent State Visit of Prime Minister of India to Tajikistan in July 2015 is a manifestation of India's desire to further deepen our Strategic Partnership with Tajikistan. Early implementation of decisions taken during the visit will add new dynamism to our relationship and open up new avenues of cooperation for the common benefit of our people," he said.

Mukherjee said, "On this very special occasion, I wish Your Excellency good health and success as well as peace and prosperity to the people of Tajikistan.”
