Police seize drugs worth Rs 12 crore from Bokajan, two arrested

Guwahati, Nov 17: Police seized a huge quantity of heroin worth Rs 12 crore and apprehended two persons from Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday night.

According to the reports, Karbi Anglong district police seized 1.777 kg of heroin from a scooty bearing registration number AS-09H-4234 at Matipul area under Bokajan police station in the hill district.

Bokajan SDPO John Das said based on secret information, police set up a special naka checking at Matipul area under Bokajan police station on Tuesday night and intercepted the scooty and seized 1.777 kg of drugs worth Rs 12 crore.

The police team arrested two persons who were  identified as Biol Tossa and Saddam Hussain.

The police official further said while one accused tried to flee from police custody, the police team fired two rounds by aiming at his legs and the accused got bullet injuries.

He was immediately admitted at Bokajan CHC for treatment.
