Police question fugitive Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh's wife Kirandeep Kaur

Jalandhar (Punjab): The police are interrogating fugitive Khalistani separatist leader Amritpal Singh’s wife, a UK-based NRI, over allegations of shoring up overseas funds for the pro-Khalistani group Waris Punjab De, her husband helms.

Senior police officials, led by DSP Harkrishan Singh, on Wednesday reached Jallupur Khera, the native village of Amritpal Singh, to question Kirandeep Kaur, The Tribune reported.

Earlier, a woman DSP-rank official also visited his house and questioned his wife and other family members.

As Amritpal Singh continues to evade arrest, the Centre has invoked the National Security Act (NSA) against Amritpal and a non-bailable warrant was issued against him.

Meanwhile, Indian Express reported that the house that the woman’s house in her native village, Kullar, near Jalandhar is locked. Reportedly, Amritpal got married to Kirandeep in February. They had come to know each other on the internet and bonded over ideologies.

The report said, citing villagers that Amritpal had never come to the village, and Kirandeep, too, had not been to her ancestral house after getting married.
