Police apprehend three COVID-19 patients who escaped from Guwahati quarantine centre

Guwahati/IBNS: The Assam Police on Wednesday apprehended three COVID-19 patients who had escaped from a quarantine centre in Guwahati.

According to the reports, three COVID-19 patients who were at Sarusajai stadium quarantine centre in Guwahati escaped from the centre on Tuesday night.

Out of the three fled patients, two were from Nalbari district and one from Hojai district.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the fled patients were identified as Hamidul Ahmed, Shajahal Ali of Nalbari and Saidul Alam of Hojai.

Later, Assam Police managed to apprehend the fled COVID-19 patients and made necessary arrangements.

Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: “3 #Covid19 patients Hamidul Ahmed & Shajahal Ali of Nalbari; Md Saidul Alam of Hojai escaped from Sarusajai quar centre causing us immense stress. Thanks to @nalbari_police & @Hojai_Police for apprehending them in time. Such acts shall attract punitive measures. @assampolice.”

Assam has reported 157 positive cases for COVID-19 so far.
