PM thanks his staff, gets standing ovation

New Delhi, May 13 (IBNS): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh thanked his staff in South Block who bid farewell to him.

The staff gave a standing ovation to the Prime Minister who has served the nation for the past 10 years.

"Prime Minister thanks staff in South Block who bid farewell to him: You have served the Nation well. God bless you," the PMOIndia tweeted.

"PM bids farewell to his staff in South Block on Raisina Hill, gets a standing ovation," it said.

According to reports, Congress president Sonia Gandhi will host a farewell dinner for Singh on Wednesday.

India's 13th prime minister will demit office on Saturday, a day after the Lok Sabha election results will be announced.

However, he will continue with his political life as a Rajya Sabha member.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) might get a majority in the Lok Sabha, exit poll said.

According to the India Today Group-Cicero exit poll the BJP-led NDA might get  261-283 seats while the ruling Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) might get 110 to 120 seats and others get 150 to 162 seats.
