Chennai, Jan 27 (IBNS): Ahead of Narendra Modi's visit to Madurai in Tamil Nadu, tweets with #GoBackModi have surfaced in the micro blogging site causing a major embarrassment to the Prime Minister.

Modi on Sunday will be present at the foundation-laying ceremony of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here.

The posts mainly reflect the anger of the Tamil Nadu people as Modi did not visit the districts in Tamil Nadu that were ravaged by cyclone Gaja.

More than 3 lakh people were left homeless and around 11 lakh trees were uprooted in the cyclone.

Many tweets also contained a cartoon bearing the outline of Tamil Nadu with the face of late rationalist leader EVR Periyar saying "Go Back Modi".

In those cartoons, the Prime Minister was shown in a saffron jacket, is running towards a ladder lowered from a hovering chopper.

Similar works with "Go Back Modi" have sprung up on Twitter and Facebook.

One of the Twitter users also criticised Modi for remaining silent on several pressing issue but attending actress Priyanka chopra's wedding reception.
