PM Modi reviews post Cyclone Ockhi situation in Lakshadweep

Chennai, Dec 19 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday chaired a high- level meeting to review post- Cyclone Ockhi situation in Lakshadweep.

The Prime Minister was welcomed by youngsters in Lakshadweep.

After the conclusion of full electoral battles in Gujarat and Himachal, Modi on Monday went to Mangalore to review the post Cyclone Ockhi situation in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

He will also meet cyclone victims, fishermen, farmers, officials and public representatives.

Ockhi has devastated normal lives in many areas of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

In Kanyakumari and Thoothukudi districts of Tamil Nadu, strong winds uprooted more than 500 trees, snapped power lines and damaged settlements close to the sea.

The name Ockhi was given by Bangladesh, under the the tropical cyclone naming system initiated by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in 2000.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi met the family members of the fishermen to hear their distress on last Thursday.
