PM Modi congratulates India team for beating SA

New Delhi, Feb 22 (IBNS) Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian cricket team for beating South Africa by 130 runs in a group stage match of the World Cup on Sunday.

Congratulating MS Dhoni and his men team, PM Modi tweeted: "Great performance. Well played. Congrats Team India. You make us proud yet again."

After posting 307 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 50 overs, Indian bowlers continued their brilliant performance as they bowled out South Africa for 177 runs in 40.2 overs.

India spinner R Aswin picked up three wickets for India.

Faf du Plessis top scored for South Africa with his 55.

Earlier, riding on a sensational knock by opener Shikhar Dhawan and a sensible innings by Ajinkya Rahane (79) , India posted a competitive 307 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

This is the first time India beat the African side in the World Cup.

Last Sunday, MS Dhoni's side had defeated Pakistan in their first World Cup match.
