PM Modi condemns Pulwama blast, says sacrifices of soldiers will not go in vain

New Delhi, Feb 14 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday condemned the terrorist attack at Awantipora in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, which left at least 20 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel martyred.

"Attack on CRPF personnel in Pulwama is despicable. I strongly condemn this dastardly attack. The sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain. The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of the brave martyrs. May the injured recover quickly," PM Modi tweeted.

Several others have also been injured in the attack as terrorists triggered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast.

Modi said he spoke to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the issue.

"Spoke to Home Minister Rajnath Singh Ji and other top officials regarding the situation in the wake of the attack in Pulwama," he tweeted.

Official sources said terrorists triggered the blast when a vehicle, carrying the CRPF personnel, was passing the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway at Goripora, Awantipora.

The injured were immediately rushed to Army’s 92 base hospital.

Security forces have been rushed to the spot and the area has been cordoned off.

Militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the blast.
