Varanasi, Apr 25 (IBNS): Amid huge crowd, Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his mega roadshow in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, from where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is fighting the Lok Sabha polls as well.

Modi, who is the outgoing MP of Varanasi, began the roadshow from the gate of Benaras Hindu University (BHU).

He will also attend the evening aarti in the ghat.

No Priyanka Gandhi Vadra against Modi

Ending suspense, the Congress on Thursday announced its leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra won't contest from the Varanasi seat to take on the Prime Minister.

The grand old party has fielded Ajay Rai as its candidate from the constituency.

In 2014, Ajay Rai had fought from the same constituency and finished a poor third with only around 75,000 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's Arvind Kejriwal came second with around two lakh votes while Modi scored 5.8 lakh votes to win the seat.
